NEUROSCIENCE. For the article “The human olfactory receptor gene family,” by Bettina Malnic, Paul A. Godfrey, and Linda B. Buck, which appeared in issue 8, February 24, 2004, of Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (101, 2584–2589; first published February 13, 2004; 10.1073/pnas.0307882100), the authors note that the M71 receptor in Table 4 incorrectly recognizes the odorant heptanol and its perceived odor as “violet/woody.” Instead, the M71 receptor should recognize acetophenone, which has a “floral/woody” odor. The corrected table appears below.
