An example trial, showing timing and presentation of options. Each option consisted of a dollar amount paired with a delay. The first option was displayed (side of presentation counterbalanced) for 2-8s, followed by the appearance of a second option for 6-12s (14s – first option duration) or until a response was made. A fixation cross was presented for any remainder of the 14s trial period, and for a 0-8s inter-trial interval.
