The society is agog with activities in the month of July and August.

After the successful Professional Enrichment programs conducted at Yamunanagar on June 1 and at Payanur on June 5, training of Teachers program at Bangalore on June 20-22 and integrate – National Symposium on Lasers at Pondicherry on June 29 and 30, the Professional Enrichment programs are being conducted on July 19 and 20 at Indore in association with the Madhya Pradesh branch of the Indian Dental Association and on August 2 and 3 at Jamnagar in association with the Gujarat branch of the Indian Dental Association. I am sure these programs will be beneficial to the general dentists who will be participating to have a better understanding of the periodontal diagnosis and treatment planning.

The postgraduate students have joined the various dental colleges. The society is organising the program “Parichay,” which will give them insight into the 3 years of training that they will undergo during their postgraduation. I request all the freshly joined postgraduates and especially the postgraduate teachers to encourage them to attend this program at Raichur on August 16 and 17 or at Pune on August 23 and 24.

Another National Symposium Integrate – on Implantology is being conducted at Mahe on August 30 and 31. Dr. Robert Horowitz has confirmed his participation for the program and will share his knowledge with us on these 2 days.

The essays written by the members/nonmembers are being evaluated, and the results will be announced soon. As has been the trend every year, this year too we have seen an increase in the participation by the members. Congratulations to the essay convener and the scientific program convener for conducting the competition in a fair manner.

I request all the Heads of the department to ensure that the name of the topper in the subject of Periodontology for the year is sent to the head office for the Indian Society of Periodontology Merit award.

The National Conference at Jaipur is taking the final shape. I request all the members to register for the conference and make the most of this scientific extravaganza.

Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.
