Former community physician Bury (b Dublin 1927; q Dublin 1952), died from ovarian cancer on 4 April 2004.

After graduation Mary moved to Manchester, where she completed her preregistration posts at Ancoats Hospital. She then spent one year in anaesthetics at Crumpsall Hospital. After bringing up four children she worked in the emergency department at Bury General Hospital and also in the community. Her devoted family and Catholic faith sustained her during her last short illness. Predeceased by her husband, Tony, she leaves four children and 10 grandchildren.
