Rat hippocampal neurons were pretreated with 10 μM paroxetine for 1 hour before they were stimulated with 40 mM potassium chloride (KCl) to induce depolarization. KCl-evoked calcium responses in neurons were decreased by pretreatment cultures with paroxetine.
