Tiger Mosaic Close Up
Philip Alexander, M.D., is a native Texan who practiced medicine in College Station for more than 25 years. Throughout that time, he was an accomplished musician performing as an oboe soloist for the Brazos Valley Symphony orchestra. In 1980, Dr. Phil explored the world of art, first by drawing pencil sketches and then drawing via computer. His images, which first appeared in this journal in the spring of 2012, are his own original creations.
When asked how he created the mosaic, Dr. Phil responded, “The mosaics are put together on Photoshop, using multiple pictures from various sources, independent of the subject content of each picture. I generally “sign” them in the right bottom with my picture. On Photoshop you can move them around and duplicate them as you wish, according how they fit into the whole. And I must confess, the tiger is without a doubt my favorite mosaic - those eyes are always looking right at me!”
