The Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hepatology (JCEH) has completed four years of continuous publication since its launch on 25th March 2011, during the annual conference of Indian National Association for the Study of Liver (INASL) held at Chandigarh. JCEH has now, in its fifth year of successful publication, been catalogued in the National Library of Medicine (NLM), with a status of PubMed Central (PMC), thus crossing the first major milestone on its journey towards achieving recognition as a publication, which attracts hepatobiliary research of a high standard. Full texts of articles in all categories published in the Journal since its inception in 2011 have been included in PubMed.
The Journal publishes outstanding original articles, practice guidelines, meeting reports, special reports, review articles, editorials, etc. The Journal also has special sections such as ‘From bench to bedside’, ‘Liver Transplant Forum’ and ‘Seminar’ that cover recent advances in basic research applicable at the bedside, advances related to liver transplantation and comprehensive and in-depth review of all aspects of a chosen topic respectively. Experts in the field, who have used a practical, patient-based format author these sections. All articles published in the journal are peer-reviewed. JCEH has an outstanding international group of clinical and basic investigators as Associate Editors and members of the Editorial Board. I take this opportunity to thank members of the editorial board and all our reviewers for the pains they have taken and the time they have spared for the Journal.
Supplement issues covering a single topic have been a singular highlight of the Journal, providing an exhaustive, up-to-date review of the entire area, making available all important information on the topic in one convenient location. These have been on diverse subjects, such as on ‘Portal Cavernoma Cholangiopathy’, ‘Hepatocellular Carcinoma’ and ‘Hepatic Encephalopathy’. The Journal is committed to providing guidance to its readers in the management of clinically relevant diseases and has published evidence-based practice guidelines/consensus statements by expert committees on portal cavernoma cholangiopathy, hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatitis C.
Presently, the Journal is published four times a year (March, June, September, December); it will be a bi-monthly publication in the near future. I am confident that, with the support of its readership, its dedicated editorial board, its contributors and its publishers, the JCEH will attain its goals, will be successful in achieving high standards in science and education and be a name to reckon with in the near future.
