Graudal N, Hubeck-Graudal T, Jürgens G, McCarron DA. The significance of duration and amount of sodium reduction intervention in normotensive and hypertensive individuals: a meta-analysis. Adv Nutr 2015;6:169–77.

In the abstract, in the sentence beginning with “Eight relevant RCTs…,” a minus sign was mistakenly removed before the first value in the 95% CI for ΔSBP. The sentence should read as follows: Eight relevant RCTs were included in the dose-response analysis, which showed that within the established usual range of sodium intake [<248 mmol/d (5700 mg/d)], there was no relation between the amount of SR (range: 136–188 mmol) and BP outcome in normotensive populations [∆SBP: 0.99 mm Hg (95% CI: –2.12, 4.10 mm Hg), P = 0.53; ∆DBP: −0.49 mm Hg (95% CI: −4.0, 3.03), P = 0.79].”

The same error appears on page 172 in the second paragraph of the “Normal BP” section. The sentence should read as follows: “Compared with the low sodium dose, there was no significant increase in SBP at the high usual sodium dose [159–248 mmol/d (3657–5700 mg/d)] [ΔSBP: 0.99 mm Hg (95% CI: –2.12, 4.10 mm Hg), P = 0.53] or at the high sodium dose [>248 mmol/d (5700 mg/d)] [ΔSBP: 3.06 mm Hg (95% CI: –1.47, 7.60 mm Hg), P = 0.19] (29, 31, 33, 34) (Supplemental Fig. 9).”

In addition, the article should have included the following sentence at the end of footnote 1 on page 169: “This is a free access article, distributed under terms (http://www.nutrition.org/publications/guidelines-and-policies/license/) that permit unrestricted noncommercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.”
