The article, “Neutrophil extracellular traps: Their role in periodontal disease.” published in J Indian Soc Periodontol 2014;18:693-7[1] is being retracted due to Plagiarism. It has been found that the article contains several sections in the text which have been copied from an earlier article entitled, “Neutrophil extracellular traps as a new paradigm in innate immunity: Friend or foe?” Periodontol 2000 2013; 63:165-97.[2] The lead author of the current paper has failed to give an adequate explanation and the Editorial Board and Executive Committee of the Indian Society of Periodontology therefore recommend that this paper not be cited as an original piece of work and be retracted. The authors of the offending paper have communicated their full, frank and contrite apology. Hence the article has been retracted.
