Journal of Anatomy has been informed of errors in the recent article by Liu A.T. et al. (2014). The errors occurred in Figure 2 and Figure 3; the labels in Figure 2 were given in the wrong order, and the authors failed to update the data in Figure 3 after the muscle length and fiber length had been normalized to an optimal human sarcomere length of 2.7 μm (recommended by one of the reviewers) instead of 2.2 μm (used in our original manuscript). In addition, paragraph 2 on page 15 should say ‘FCU-u (4.21 ± 0.48 cm2) had the largest PCSA, followed by PT-h (2.87 ± 0.15 cm2) and ECU -u (2.86 ± 0.36 cm2)’. These errors have been corrected in the new figures.

Corrected Figures 2 and 3 are now provided below.
