Antiglobulin sera: comparison between serological tests and immunoelectrophoresis

Abstract

Reactions of selected antiglobulin sera with sensitized cells are related to their precipitation patterns with normal serum on immunoelectrophoresis. The components which react with adsorbed complement are anti-β1 and further evidence of this is obtained by the effect of the addition of human serum components on the antiglobulin reactions with `complement-coated' cells.

The findings are discussed in the light of recent work by various authors.
