Scheme of the process for obtaining the potentials in the ion flux measurement configuration. The yellow bars, corresponding to the accommodation time are controlled by knob “Wait time” in Fig. 8 and the process of measuring and averaging are controlled by the knob "# of samples” in Fig. 4. The data sent to the text file are the values VI, V2, V3, … which correspond to the average of the values obtained during the blue bar period of time. The use of 3 points to determine dV minimizes the effect of the drift of the measure that usually appears when taking measures. Modified from Newman et al. [2].
