Three nucleotides at the 3′ end of the RNase E/RNase G substrate depicted in Fig. 7A (p(C)nGUAUUU/F3) were inadvertently omitted from the published figure. The revised figure panel contains these nucleotides, which engage in base pairing. This error and its correction have no bearing on the results and interpretation of the experiments shown in Fig. 7, which examined the dependence of the cleavage rate on the distance between the 5′ monophosphate and 5′-proximal cleavage sites.
