Global Spine Journal is the official journal of AOSpine. Global Spine Journal is proud to be associated with AOSpine and appreciates all the support AOSpine provides. AOSpine is an international community of spine surgeons generating, distributing, and exchanging knowledge to advance science and the spine care profession through research, education, and community development. With this collaborative approach, AOSpine is advancing spine care worldwide. AOSpine is a clinical division of the AO Foundation. The AO Foundation is a medically guided nonprofit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by 13 visionary surgeons, AO today fosters one of the most extensive networks of currently more than 12,000 surgeons, operating room personnel, and scientists in over 100 countries. The first ever AO course was held in Davos in 1960, and this course still happens today.

AOSpine has some updates and exciting news for the future, which we are happy to share with our readers.

Global Spine Congress

Registration is now open for the Global Spine Congress 2017, which will take place from May 3–5 in Milan, Italy. This truly international spine congress will feature a unique scientific program, with parallel sessions covering more than 40 topics, and showcase all the latest technologies and innovations in spine surgery. Early Bird registration rates will available until December 21, 2016. Additional discounts apply for AOSpine Members, medical or research students, residents, fellows, and attendees from low-income countries. All abstracts presented at the Global Spine Congress will automatically enter into the Abstract Awards selection process. The winners will be announced on-site at the event, and all accepted abstracts will be published in Global Spine Journal.

AOSpine Goes Green

After conducting a survey amongst our members, many of them stated that they would not mind receiving the Global Spine Journal electronically via e-mail for download. Each member now has the choice to receive the Global Spine Journal in either electronic or printed version. If you wish to still receive the printed copy after December 31, 2016 please opt-in for the printed version in your AOSpine Membership profile. We are delighted to be able to contribute to a more environmentally friendly process and thank you for your continuous support!
