The Genome-Sequenced Variant of Campylobacter jejuni NCTC 11168 and the Original Clonal Clinical Isolate Differ Markedly in Colonization, Gene Expression, and Virulence-Associated Phenotypes

Page 514: Table 3 should be deleted. This table lists a number of amino acid changes in the sigma factors rpoN, rpoD, and fliA in Campylobacter jejuni strain 11168-O compared to the genome-sequenced strain 11168-GS. This sequencing was carried out on cloned PCR products that were amplified by using Taq DNA polymerase. More recently, amplification of the sigma factors was repeated with a proofreading enzyme. Subsequent sequencing was performed directly on the PCR product, and the amino acid sequence of each of the three sigma factors was found to be identical between the two variants of 11168. There are no amino acid changes in rpoN, rpoD, or fliA of 11168-O compared with 11168-GS. This observation does not affect the overall conclusions of the original paper.
