Fikretoglu D, Liu A, Zamorski MA, et al. Perceived need for and perceived sufficiency of mental health care in the Canadian Armed Forces: Changes in the past decade and comparisons to the general population. Can J Psychiatry. 2016;61(Suppl 1): 36S-45S. (Original DOI: 10.1177/0706743716628855)
In the above referenced article, the authors reported on page 38S: “A total of 15 126 (40.90%) respondents from the CCHS-MH2012 sample were thus selected. The pooled data across the 3 surveys had a total sample of 26 977.”
The percentage of 40.9% was calculated using sample weights and the number 15 126 was calculated from this weighted percentage. The sample size should not have been calculated using sample weights as the sample weights were designed for calculating statistics that are representative of the Canadian population and not for reporting the number of people in the sample. The two sentences should have read: “A total of 8 451 (33.65%) respondents from the CCHS-MH2012 sample were thus selected. The pooled data across the 3 surveys had a total sample of 20 302.”
This mistake does not affect the results or the conclusions of the article.
