Former general practitioner Telford (b 1923; q Guy's Hospital, London, 1947), died from ischaemic heart disease and diabetes on 26 March 2004.
After house officer posts he did 18 months' national service in the Royal Navy at Portsmouth and Londonderry. From 1950 he spent the rest of his professional life in general practice, first in Stoke-on-Trent, then Shrewsbury, and finally in Telford. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed nearly 18 years of retirement. He leaves a wife, Jennifer; three sons; and six grandsons.
