RETRACTION

Vol. 153: 1321–1331, 2010

PMCID: PMC5373074  PMID: 28356546

Smykowski A., Zimmermann P., and Zentgraf U. G-Box Binding Factor1 Reduces CATALASE2 Expression and Regulates the Onset of Leaf Senescence in Arabidopsis.

This article is retracted at the request of the authors. Following a previous Correction, the authors recognized additional statistical concerns associated with Figure 3A (GBF1) and Figure 7B (RBCS1a) that undermine the original conclusions. Furthermore, the authors recently discovered that the senescence phenotype of the gbf1 mutant plants depends on nitrogen supplied during growth and development. Under low nitrogen supply, the senescence-delayed phenotype of the gbf1 mutant plants may be reversed so that these plants show accelerated senescence compared with the wild type. A conclusion about what is cause and what is consequence can no longer be drawn as it is no longer clear whether GBF1 affects nitrogen homoeostasis or senescence or both.

The authors regret any inconvenience and difficulties that this action may cause and apologize sincerely to the readers, reviewers, and editors of Plant Physiology.
