Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease: Similarities and Distinctions

Abstract

Evidence is presented that ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, the two major chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, are distinct diseases which differ in their clinical features, natural history, pathology, pathogenesis, genetic inheritance and therapeutic response.
