In the Research Design and Methods section of the article mentioned above, the measurement of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) was described as follows: “The software system averages 60 points of IMT values in the segment 2 cm proximal to the dilation of the carotid bulb (mean-IMT-CCA).” The sentence should read: “The software system averages ∼200 points of IMT values in the segment 2 cm proximal to the dilation of the carotid bulb (mean-IMT-CCA).”

The authors believe that this correction will not affect the results obtained in the study, and they regret the error.

The online version of the article has been corrected.
