This Article contains a typographical error in the Methods section, under the subheading “Growing cell simulation model”, where:

“When the i-th cell has doubled its length it splits into two equal cells i ₁ and i ₂ of length ${\ell }_0$, located at ${\mathbf{r}}_{i_1,i_2}={\mathbf{r}}_i\pm {\hat{\mathbf{e}}}_i{\ell }_0/4$ and with orientation ${\mathbf{e}}_{i_1,i_2}={\ell }_0\mathcal{R}[{\stackrel{\mathbf{ˆ}}{\mathbf{e}}}_i]$”.

should read:
