Former consultant dermatologist Pontefract, Yorkshire (b 1924; q Leeds 1948; MD), died from cancer on 23 July 2004.

Donald spent two years in the Royal Air Force before entering general practice in 1950, but continued as a clinical assistant in dermatology in Leeds. From 1956 to 1967 Donald worked in industrial medicine for the National Coal Board. His main interest, however, was dermatology and after a period as senior registrar at Leeds General Infirmary he was appointed consultant dermatologist by Pontefract, Castleford and Goole Hospital Management Committee in 1969. He was also awarded honorary consultant status at Leeds General Infirmary. In retirement he remained in demand from his private patients as well as for medico-legal work. He leaves a wife, Sheila; two sons; and two grandchildren.
