Consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist Ipswich (b 1955; q Bristol 1979; MRCPsych), died from metastatic choroid melanoma on 6 January 2005.
Figure 1.

During his brief terminal illness, Paul found jaundice a particular burden—as an Ipswich Town season ticket holder, he resented that he was dying in the Norwich City strip. Paul trained in psychiatry at St George's, London, moving to Oxford to train as a child psychiatrist in 1984. He was a consultant in Suffolk from 1987, initially in Bury St Edmunds, later in Ipswich. Paul had been medical director of his trust and he co-authored a textbook of psychiatry. He was a pioneer of male part-time working. Paul had some unostentatious eccentricities. He had a small practice as a sports massage therapist. He loved underground comics, his organic garden, and his jukebox. He leaves a wife, Hilary, and three children.
