NDRG1 suppresses cancer cell migration and invasion through inhibiting caveolin-1 expression: sh-NDRG1 and SH-cav1 results. (a) The sh-NDRG1 knockdown and sh-Control HT29, SW480 and SW11116 cells were incubated with or without caveolin-1-specific shRNA (SH-cav1). Whole-cell lysates were extracted and immunoblotting was performed to assess NDRG1 and caveolin-1 expression in cells transfected with sh-Con/SH-Con, sh-NDRG1/SH-Con, sh-Con/SH-cav1 and sh-NDRG1/SH-cav1, respectively. ***P<0.001, relative to the respective control cells. (b) Transwell assays: cells were seeded in the upper chamber of insert and the migrated/invaded cells were examined after 24~48 h. Data represent the means±s.d. from three independent experiments. Representative photos of stained cells are shown with the original magnification of × 100; scale bar, 50 μm.
