Experiments were performed in the setups in Figure 3(B) at 28°C in EMM6S or EMM6S +3% galactose as indicated. For the flocculation phenotype, the indicated days correspond to the first detection of flocs by microscopy. n.a., Not applicable; n.d., not determined. The wall adhesion phenotype was scored at the end of the experiments. All experiments were carried out for 16 days. A few multiseptated cells were observed in the WT strain grown in the presence of galactose at day 14.
