Former associate specialist in psychiatry Warneford Hospital, Oxford (b London 1926; q Charing Cross Hospital, London, 1953; BSc, DPM), died from carcinomatosis on 26 April 2005.

After some clinical work at Billericay Margaret, who used her maiden name throughout her career, carried out research in rheumatology in Sheffield. She moved to Oxford, where she found work as a psychiatrist on the professorial unit at the Warneford Hospital, running the day hospital there for many years. Following retirement she worked part time as a psychiatrist for Oxford Victim Support and for the Medical Foundation for Victims of Torture, work she continued right up to her final illness. She leaves a husband, Allan; three children; and three grandchildren.
