Former consultant oncologist Bradford (b Bradford 1944; q Newcastle upon Tyne 1969; DPhil, FRCP), died from glioblastoma on 25 February 2005.

After qualifying Dennis Parker moved to Oxford, where he undertook research on bilharzia in Nigeria and achieved a doctorate in cell control mechanisms. He then held posts in Edinburgh, Dundee, and London before devoting the rest of his career to the people of his native West Yorkshire. He built up the oncology services of Bradford Royal Infirmary and was clinical co-director of the clinical oncology unit of Bradford University. Dennis took early retirement to pursue his many other passions, including ornithology, travel, and entertaining. He leaves a wife, Susan, and a daughter, Imogen.
