Former general practitioner Newark, Nottinghamshire (b 1915; q St Andrews 1938), died from prostate cancer on 8 May 2005.
After qualification he was resident medical officer at Stamford and Rutland General Infirmary until the outbreak of the second world war, volunteering for the Royal Army Medical Corps in November 1939. He served in India from 1942 to 1945, and was at the relief of Hong Kong in August 1945 as a major commanding a field surgical unit. After demobilisation he joined a general practice in Newark, Nottinghamshire, becoming senior of five partners. He was also resident GP anaesthetist at Newark General Hospital. He leaves a wife, Babe; three children; and seven grandchildren.
