How animal passions became aroused

PMCID: PMC56337

Two errors occurred in this review of the television documentary The Rise and Rise of Animal Rights by Rhona MacDonald (27 January, p 244). Firstly, we should of course have spelt Colin Blakemore's name correctly. Secondly, the article wrongly stated that the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) was formed in the 1960s. The society was in fact formed in 1824 (as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and with royal approval became the RSPCA in 1840.
