aThe cells were incubated with vehicle alone or in the presence of the hydroxystilbenes under complete growth conditions. The cell viability at 48 h was assayed by the MTT method. The percentages of reduction in viable cells were calculated considering the percentage of viable cells of the vehicle-treated control as 100. All determinations were made in five replicates in 3-4 different experiments and the values are mean ± S.E.M. *p<0.05, **p<0.01 compared to vehicle control.
