Overall survival (OS) was calculated as time from diagnosis to time to death. Patients who died within 6 months of diagnosis were excluded from analysis. The number at risk is delineated above the x axis at each time point. Kaplan-Meier estimates for median OS were 13.2 months (95%CI: 12.7–14), 9.6 months (95%CI: 9.0–10.2), and 7.2 months (95%CI: 6.1–8.3) for patients treated with concurrent chemoradiation, definitive radiation alone, and no treatment respectively (p<0.01). 5-year OS estimates were compared using log-rank tests, with rates of 11.2% (95%CI: 9.7–12.7), 6.5% (95%CI: 4.7–8.6), and 4.3% (95%CI: 3.3–5.5) for patients treated with concurrent chemoradiation, definitive radiation alone, and no treatment respectively (p<0.01).
