The first line of the introduction of this paper was incorrect. It read “Innate immunity is activated by pathogen-derived molecules by the host cells” when it should have read “Innate immunity is activated upon perception of pathogen-derived molecules by the host cells.”

This has now been corrected online and in print. The Authors apologise for this error.
