1. The Methods section lists four separate dates for sowing and harvesting of plant tissue in 2011. This is incorrect. The actual dates were the day and month given in 2010 rather than 2011; the samples were analyzed in 2011. The sentences affected are shown below with the original (incorrect) date crossed out and correct date added in bold.
The 19 lines were grown side by side in two separate rows of 25 plants in three separate blocks of 25 × 25 m with an outside boarder area of 3 m (line MBS857) included in each block. The plants were sown on May 15, 2011 2010.
At the vegetative (V) stage, half of the 6th fully emerged leaf without the main central midrib was harvested at the 7- to 8-leaf stage between 9 am and noon on July 2, 2011 2010.
The delay in the silking date between the 19 lines was ∼4 weeks, starting from the 5th of August, 2011 2010.
Three entire 6th emerged leaves were harvested from individual plants grown in the field in 2011 2010.
2. The quantification of leaf metabolites corresponding to the developmental stage 15 d after silking (DAS) was previously published by Yesbergenova-Cuny et al. (2016). Specifically, the data presented in Supplemental Data Set 1, “Metabolite quantification” sheet, columns GN to NV under Stage 15DAS (highlighted in orange in the Excel file) and illustrated in Supplemental Figure 2A right panel (15DAS) are the same as that used in the cited article (Table S4 and Figure 3, respectively, in Yesbergenova-Cuny et al. [2016]).
The results presented in Figure 3 of Yesbergenova-Cuny et al. (2016) show a comparison between the leaf and phloem sap metabolite composition 15 DAS. In The Plant Cell article (Cañas et al., 2017), the Yesbergenova-Cuny et al. (2016) data (metabolite composition at 15 DAS) were used to quantify the relative proportions of metabolites in leaves harvested at 15 DAS.
3. Supplemental Data Sets 1, 2, and 4 have been further updated to include more complete descriptions of the data presented. Specifically, the units of variables measured were added to Supplemental Data Set 1 (“Metabolites raw data,” “Enzyme activities,” and “Metabolites quantification” sheets), Supplemental Data Set 2, and Supplemental Data Set 4. Added text in these data sets is highlighted in red.
