Metal binding properties of PlyP56, PlyN74, and PlyTB40. The influence of divalent cations on PlyP56, PlyN74, and PlyTB40 lytic activity against stationary phase B. cereus ATCC 4342 was assayed via turbidity reduction assay. Mean values from three independent experiments run in triplicate are represented as the percentage residual lytic activity relative to untreated endolysins. Endolysins treated with EDTA (checker bars), and subsequently recovered via dialysis with additions of divalent ions, Mg²⁺ (white bars), Ca²⁺ (grey bars) are shown.
