The functional groups of fungi inferred with the program FUNGuild [67] were organized into six categories, i.e., arbuscular mycorrhizal (bue), ectomycorrhizal (red), ericoid mycorrhizal (skyblue), saprotrophic/endophytic (yellow), plant pathogenic (purple), and other/unknown fungi (gray) (Additional file 4: Data S4).
