In the Results section, under the subheading ‘Detecting communities in the African road network’, the equation:

$\cos (\theta )={\mathbf{r}}_{i,j}{\mathbf{r}}_{j,p}/{\mathbf{r}}_{i,j}{\mathbf{r}}_{j,p},$ where ${\mathbf{r}}_{i,j}={\mathbf{r}}_j{\mathbf{r}}_i$

should read:

$\cos (\theta )=|{\mathbf{r}}_{i,j}\cdot {\mathbf{r}}_{j,p}|/{\mathrm{r}}_{i,j}{\mathrm{r}}_{j,p},$ where ${\mathbf{r}}_{i,j}={\mathbf{r}}_j-{\mathbf{r}}_i$

In addition, under the same subheading, the equation:

$P\left(k\right)k^{-\gamma }$

should read:
