Subsequent to the publication of this article, the authors have realized that a sentence was written incorrectly in the concluding paragraph. On p. 6358, right-hand column, line 26, the sentence commencing ‘In the present study, it was demonstrated that prebiotics.’ should have read as follows (changes highlighted in bold): ‘In the present study, it was demonstrated that prebiotics may decrease levels of inflammation and change the composition of the microbiome in the intestinal and respiratory tracts, and improve the treatment of lung cancer.’

The authors apologize for this oversight on their part, and for any inconvenience caused.
