This article (1) is being retracted at the request of the Cancer Research editors. The University of Illinois at Chicago notified the AACR that following an institutional review, it was determined that numerous panels in Fig. 5A had been falsified. An internal investigation by the editors determined that several panels in Fig. 5A were duplicated from panels in Fig. 6B of a 2007 Cancer Research article (2). Specifically, the following figure panels are identical: panel #09 (1) and panel #02 (2), panel #39 (1) and panel #25 (2), panel #04 (1) and panel #15 (2), panel #03 (1) and panel #40 (2), panel #22 (1) and panel #12 (2), panel #24 (1) and panel #06 (2). To ensure that the research record is correct, the Cancer Research editors have decided to retract the article.
A copy of this retraction notice was sent to the last known email addresses for both authors. One author (J.S. Rao) did not agree to the retraction; the remaining author (S.M.K. Pulukuri) did not respond.
