Graduate Education in Medical Informatics

Robert M Braude
PMCID: PMC61476  PMID: 10730606

To the Editor:—I read with interest the article by Patton and Reed on medical informatics education published in the November/December issue of the Journal.1 I was particularly struck by this statement in the Discussion section: “No detailed reports addressing the fate of medical informatics graduates in the United States have been published.” I personally known of two studies that investigated medical informatics education and characteristics of graduates.2,3,4 Although these other studies looked at medical informatics education from slightly different perspectives, I believe that they would be of interest to any of our readers who are pursuing similar investigations.
