We wish to retract our research article entitled “Analysis of expression of YAP1 and TAZ by immunohistochemical staining in malignant mesothelioma and reactive mesothelial cells” published in Oncology Letters 15 6825–6830, 2018. Following the publication of this article, an interested reader drew to our attention that, owing to an error on our part, there were fundamental flaws in the data integrity and the experimental design of this study such that neither the results nor the conclusions may be regarded as being reliable. [Essentially, the acronym ‘TAZ’ (or WW domain-containing transcription regulator 1; WWTR1), a transcriptional coactivator acting as an effector of the Hippo pathway that was our intended protein for study, was confused with the protein, tafazzin (TAZ).]
All the named authors agree to this retraction. We sincerely apologize for this mistake, and thank the reader of our article who drew this matter to our attention. Furthermore, we regret any inconvenience this mistake has caused.
