James H. O’Keefe, MD, MSMA member since 2003, has accepted the position of Preventive Medicine Board Member. Dr. O’Keefe is a board-certified cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants and Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, and co-author of The Forever Diet and Lifestyle.
Tricia Benoist, MD, MSMA member since 2011, Houston, Ob/Family Physician, donated funds to the Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation to set up breastfeeding resources for new mothers who deliver at TCMH.
The Inaugural Bohigian Lectureship for the History of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, delivered Oct. 5, 2011, by Daniel M. Albert, MD, was titled, “The Strange Life of the Brilliant Oculist Who Blinded Handel and Bach.” Dr. Albert is the editor of the Archives of Ophthalmology and associate editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association. This annual lectureship was endowed by George Bohigian, MD, MSMA member since 1977, and his wife, Chris, to enhance the appreciation of the history of ophthalmology. This lectureship is under the auspices of the Center for the History of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine.
David E. Chalk, MD, MSMA member since 1993, Orthopaedic Surgery, has been appointed as Chairman of the Board for Patients First Health Care in Washington, Mo. He succeeds Michael E. Rau, MD, MSMA member since 1981, Internal Medicine.

Richard Draper, MD, MSMA member since 1996, Emergency Medicine, was elected to the City Council of Hannibal, Mo. to represent Ward 6. Dr. Draper is Medical Director for Hannibal Regional Medical Group.

He also recently received a three-year appointment as Cancer Liaison Physician for the cancer program at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Cancer Liaison Physicians are an integral part of cancer programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Warren Hagan, MD, MSMA member since 2008, Plastic Surgery, St. Joseph, was the Event Coordinator for the Friends of Florida organization which performed the 150th anniversary of the Civil War reenactment, “The Battle of Florida, Mo. Twain vs. Grant.”

Felix N. He is the Founder and Past-Chair of the Eye Foundation at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Past President of the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons.
