Abstract
A meta-narrative systematic review was undertaken to understand the key concepts relevant to enhancing participation in healthcare, specific to the array of diversity characteristics of older people beyond cultural diversity. This presentation will begin with an examination of perception and awareness related to diversity characteristics, acknowledging the impact of bias and prejudice on participation in healthcare. Next, the WHO Rights to Health of available, accessible, acceptable and quality healthcare services will be addressed, as related to engaging the older person meaningfully in their healthcare. The final section will build these diversity concepts into the reality of community care practice, providing practical, but generic suggestions for community aged care workers.
