Abstract

The Center for Research on Health and Aging at the University of Illinois at Chicago conducts rigorous applied research on health promotion for older adults, including the development, testing, and translation of evidence-based health promotion programs. The Center is currently home to 31 faculty across the University representing nine Schools and 11 Departments. Current research foci include health promotion with minority older adults and investigations of the plasticity of biobehavioral risk mechanisms with an emphasis on cognitive function and brain health. The Center has been home to four consecutive Edward R. Roybal Center awards that have provided critical seed funding to multiple new investigators in aging. Center faculty collaborate with numerous local, state and national organizations serving older adults. The presentation will focus on issues encountered in disseminating our evidence-based Fit & Strong! program which is being offered in multiple states and has reached thousands of participants to date.
