Abstract
Residential satisfaction (RS) is an important measurement indicating the quality of life. In this study, we examined older adults’ RS from the perspective of both urban and neighborhood scale in purpose of integrating “Age-friendly City” into urban planning & design. Data collected from two sources: a) 4th National Sample Survey on the living conditions of China’s older populace (N=3153 in Shanghai); b) questionnaires survey results among aged residents from 16 typical neighborhoods (N=1,872) in Shanghai. In terms of neighborhood planning characteristics, we found that housing type and location produce significant differences to elderly’s RS, whereas density does not. The commonness and the differences of elderly’s RS in different types of neighborhoods were discussed in the second part, which provides a strategy for adaptive intervention.
