The following errors explain the discrepancies in the published manuscript by Lange et al., (2017), which occurred during the review process:
The total of cases available for analysis adds up to 225, and not 222 as falsely stated in Figure 1.
However, due to missing data regarding the “General use of CAM” in 3 cases, only 222 cases were available for the analysis regarding the use of CAM. Two of these 3 cases were also missing information regarding “CAM as first choice”, resulting in 223 cases analysed for “CAM as first choice”.
The authors apologize for this mistake, and the resulting numerical inconsistencies in the text of the manuscript (abstract and results section).
Additional errors have been identified in Table 2 (p. 129).
The term “cases” needs to be replaced with the term “horses” to be consistent with the terminology used throughout the manuscript
Moreover, in Table 4 (page 131)
225, instead of 222, for total number of cases [including three cases with missing data]
151, instead of 148, total lameness cases [including three cases with missing data]
119, instead of 117, total osteopathy treatments [including two cases with missing data]
72, instead of 71, lameness cases treated with osteopathy [including one case with missing data]
30, instead of 29, lameness cases treated with homeopathy [including one case with missing data]
