McKee and Stuckler Respond

Martin McKee 1,, David Stuckler 1

We are grateful to Kraak for her interest in our article and support for engagement with and action on the commercial determinants of health. We fully agree that those seeking to address these determinants of health require appropriate skills, although space did not permit us to go into detail. Elsewhere, we have set out seven key attributes that we believe are necessary for effective public health action1 that resonate with Kraak’s examples, including developing fluency with social media platforms. Finally, having experienced virulent attacks on social media, we particularly appreciate her point about the importance of having the ability to withstand them.2
