Effect of the TH analog GC24 on tissue-specific TH action. (a) Single injection of the TRβ agonist GC24 (1.53 nM/g bw IP) significantly increased luciferase activity after 24 hours in hypothyroid (0.1% sodium perchlorate and 0.5% methimazole in drinking water for 3 weeks combined with low-iodine diet) THAI #4 mice in the TRβ isoform-dominant liver, whereas (b) luciferase activity did not change in the TRα isoform-dominant heart.
