Abstract

With the aims to evaluate the effect of feed with calcium salt of palm oil on milk composition was developed the present study. Four girolando cows were feeding with four experimental diets in a Latin square design with each experimental period of 27 d. The experimental diet had increased levels of calcium salt of palm oil (0, 2, 4, 6 %) and had same isocaloric and isoprotein value. The Pennisetum hibridum was the basal forage source. The cows were housed in individual pens and fed individually. It was used machine milking system with a frequency of twice per day. In the last day of each experimental period was took a sample of milk by cow for milk composition. The data were analyzed in PROC GLM of SAS 9.2 with cow, period and diet as effects. The level of calcium salt of palm oil in the diet, no effect (P > 0.05) the total solid (10.2%), the protein (3.0 %), nor the fat (2.3%) in the milk. In conclusion, it is possible to include calcium salt of palm oil in the diet of girolando dairy cows without to effect the milk composition.
