CMAJ has been made aware of errors that occurred in a research article published Oct. 18, 2011.1
The estimated prevalence of metabolic syndrome in participants aged 18–39 years should have been 6.5% (standard error [SE] 1.5), rather than 17.0% (SE 1.4). This denominator error appeared in the abstract and in Table 2.
Also, the following sentence in the fourth paragraph of the Interpretation should have been removed: “In 1986–1992, 8.7% of men and 4.6% of women aged 18–34 years had metabolic syndrome, as compared with 17.0% overall among those 18–39 years old in the present study.”
These errors have been corrected at cmaj.ca. The authors regret the error.
