Erratum: “Prenatal Exposure to Nonpersistent Endocrine Disruptors and Behavior in Boys at 3 and 5 Years”

Claire Philippat , Dorothy Nakiwala, Antonia M Calafat, Jérémie Botton, Maria De Agostini, Barbara Heude, Rémy Slama; the EDEN Mother–Child Study Group
PMCID: PMC6371695  PMID: 30526050

Errors in the confidence intervals (CI) of the last column of Table 5 (“Internalizing behavior”) resulted from a mistake in the formula developed for automatically updating tables directly from the statistical software used for the analysis. A corrected version of Table 5 is provided.

Table 5.

Adjusted associations between phenols, phthalate metabolites, and dichotomized Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) scores at 5 y (n=457 or 458 mother–son pairs, depending of the subscale).

Note: CI, confidence interval; DEHP, molecular sum of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate metabolites; dichlorophenols, molecular sum of 2,4 and 2,5-dichlorophenols; MBzP, monobenzyl phthalate; MCNP, monocarboxynonyl phthalate; MCOP, monocarboxyoctyl phthalate; MCPP, mono(3-carboxypropyl) phthalate; MEP, monoethyl phthalate; MiBP, mono-isobutyl phthalate; MnBP, mono-n-butyl phthalate; OR, odds ratio; parabens, molecular sum of methyl, ethyl, propyl, and butyl parabens. Associations adjusted for recruitment center, maternal age, parity, parental education, breastfeeding duration, household income, smoking status, maternal psychological difficulties during pregnancy, and child age at assessment. IRRs are reported for a doubling in biomarkers concentrations.

In addition, several typos were detected.

In the first paragraph of the Results section, the sentence “Phenols were detected in 73% (triclosan) to 100% (BPA; 2,5-dichlorophenols; methyl-paraben) of maternal urine samples…” should read: “Phenols were detected in 74% (ethyl-paraben) to 100% (BPA; 2,5-dichlorophenols; methyl-paraben) of maternal urine samples….”

In the first paragraph of the Results section, “MNBP” should read “MnBP.”

In the Results, in the “Sensitivity Analyses” subsection, the odds ratio (OR) for the association between dichlorophenols and conduct problems at 5 y should read “0.94” and not “0.90.”

In the second-to-last paragraph of the Results section, the CI for the OR without correction should read “(95% CI: 1.08, 1.82, Table 5)” rather than “(95% CI: 1.0, 1.82, Table 5).”
